Following her daughter’s Instagram post confirming her death, tributes to television star Maggie Tabberer have been pouring in.
In her message, Tabberer’s daughter shared the feelings of her mother, an 87-year-old Australian TV and fashion legend. In a heartfelt ode to the celebrity, journalist Andrew Hornery shared the tragic news on social media during lunch on Friday, December 6.

Maggie’s daughters Brooke and Amanda, who also paid a heartfelt homage to their mother on Friday, are her surviving children.
Maggie Tabberer started modelling at the age of 14 and quickly rose to national prominence. Her fame was then solidified when she was cast in the 1964–1973 television series Beauty and the Beast as a result of her public persona.
After that, she got her own show on Channel 7 called Maggie, which ran from 1969 until 1970.
She went on to work as a freelancer for companies including 2GB, the ABC, and many network television networks after winning consecutive Gold Logies for her work on Beauty and the Beast.
In addition to her successful PR career and countless commercial contracts, Maggie was a gifted fashion designer who started her own plus-sized line, Maggie T, in the early 1980s.
Maggie Tabberer returned to her first love, television, after serving as the fashion editor of The Australian Women’s Weekly for 15 prosperous years starting in 1981.
She reminisced about life, luck, and love on the cover of The Australian Women’s Weekly in 2023.
In addition to winning consecutive Gold Logies in 1970 and 1971, she started the plus-size clothing line Maggie T in 1981. That same year, she was appointed fashion editor of the Australian Women’s Weekly, a position she held for 15 years.
Only last year, at the age of 86, did Maggie Tabberer reappear as the cover girl for Women’s Weekly, continuing to be active and in the news until recently.
