When asked how he responds to rumors about his wife, Meghan Markle, and their relationship, especially recent claims about their distinct business pursuits, Prince Harry took a direct approach to the topic during The New York Times’ 2024 DealBook Summit.
More on Prince Harry Responds to Rumors
The 40-year-old Duke of Sussex took the stage in New York City on December 4th to join Andrew Ross Sorkin, the founder of Dealbook and a NYT columnist, for a comprehensive discussion about disinformation, the mainstream media, and initiatives to make the digital world a safer place.
At the conclusion of the conversation, 47-year-old Sorkin questioned Prince Harry about how he handles the public’s interest in every facet of his life, a scrutiny that not only draws attention to the admirable causes he supports, but it also harshly exposes his personal relationships.
As the son of the late Princess Diana and the future King Charles, the Duke of Sussex, who was raised under the royal spotlight, stressed that the attention was “definitely not a good thing.”
Prince Harry acknowledged that he had “no doubt” that his discourse with Sorkin “will be spun or twisted somehow against me, and maybe you yourself will be trolled relentlessly.”
At the 2024 DealBook Summit, the Duke of Sussex thought back on the difficult parts of the past while focusing on the future. He discussed the Parents Network initiative, the Archewell Foundation, which he and Meghan lead. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are raising their three-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet, and five-year-old son, Prince Archie, in Montecito, California.
Harry talked candidly with Sorkin during their interview, saying, “I’ve had a lived experience since I was a kid.” Stories that aren’t entirely true have been written about me. I’ve seen tales about friends, family, strangers, and a wide spectrum of other people.
He stated that he would like to collaborate with social media company shareholders to talk about child safety when it comes to the internet.
The 43-year-old Duchess of Sussex had previously attended The New York Times DealBook Online Summit in November 2021, and Prince Harry followed in Meghan’s footsteps by sitting for an interview with Sorkin at the summit.
On December 4, Prince Harry is scheduled to continue his trip to New York City at a launch for an art exhibit that will benefit his charity, Sentebale, while the couple will be getting engaged separately on opposite coasts. Meghan is anticipated to be present at the 2024 Paley Honors Fall Gala in Beverly Hills, where she will assist in presenting Princess Lilibet’s godfather, Tyler Perry, with The Paley Honors Award, the highest distinction bestowed by The Paley Center for Media.
